A guide to the best online casinos

Here we go again for another entry rounding up all matters LiveCasinoDirect. The emphasis today is on news, kiddies. To wit:

What’s more powerful than a superhero? Six-figure attorneys, that’s who! Cryptologic (okay, technically it’s WagerLogic, a Cryptologic subsidiary with full backing of the mother company) will surely be employing some legally bulky dudes after filing for arbitration hearings against Marvel Comics, whom the casino game software designer/producer charges violated terms of a 2005 agreement.

Describing Marvel as having “committed material breaches of certain provisions of its agreement with WagerLogic Ltd. relating to the licensing of Marvel comic book characters to WagerLogic Ltd,” the suit claims the company was to have exclusive rights to the entire Marvel Comics stable of characters, whereas the pulp pushers obviously saw things differently, also licensing its characters to fellow slot game designer company Playtech.

Cryptologic and WagerLogic filed the complaint with an arbiter in Ireland this week.

Meanwhile, having no problems growing is Net Entertainment, which is setting its sights on dominating the Italian market with its software. The software producers were able to sign deals with BWin.it and Italy-based poker network Gioco Digitale. NetEnt spokespeople claim the agreement makes the company the strongest software-supplying force in the country.

Oh, and in case you’re actually interesting in, you know, playing some online games, Bet365 begins its satellite tournament play for the World Series of Poker’s 2010 edition on May 2; tournaments will run on Sundays and Tuesdays, with the top 200 at the end of the competition to participate in a final tourney. How can you get a $13,000 seat in Las Vegas for $1.10? Participate in the casino’s “Warrior” promotion!

Vegas Technology has released its new offerings for April: Four new slots games now installed throughout the interweb at all Vegas Tech-powered casinos. If only the rest of the news were as exciting...

At least one of this quartet is quite swell: Jurassic Slots, themed in the can’t-lose dinosaur milieu, features Spielbergian animation and special effects. Plus, it’s really green – lush green, as they probably advertised the mythological amusement park of the silver screen. Colour LiveCasinoDirect impressed and repeat after us: “Tyrannosauruses and stegosauruses and pterodactyls, oh my!”

Placing a distant second to Jurassic Slots within this month’s Vegas Tech quartet is California Gold, another casino slot based in the apparently-inspiring Gold Rush of the 1850s and ‘60s. This one takes the grittiness one step further, with players, after scoring the mother lode, having to get the booty past the inevitable bandits and scam artists awaiting you.

About the only challenge in the remaining two pokies – Butterflies and Bigfoot, by name – is in deciding which one is lamer. While hard to imagine that any software manufacturer could deaden the excitement of sighting ol’ Sasquatch (whether you believe it was a hilarious prolonged hoax or not), Vegas Technology has somehow managed to do just that. Butterflies, meanwhile, makes some gorgeous artwork look washed out and dull against that same old A-K-Q-J-10 run of symbols.

Fan of Vegas Technology? Fan of online casino gaming? Skip the other Vegas Tech offerings this month and go straight to Jurassic Slots; that’s a good one.
